Anti-Doping – Rule Changes for 2017

12/12/2016

In an update to the 17 Nov British Wrestling news item, UK Anti-Doping is publicising further information on the World Anti-Doping Agency banned-substance list for 2017.

The WADA 2017 Prohibited List comes into effect on 1 January.
It is extremely important that athletes and support personnel: –

  • take the necessary time to read all of the information that is available to them
  • understand the changes that have been made
  • ensure that any medications or supplements are checked to see whether their ingredients have been added to the List

UK Anti-Doping realises that understanding the WADA 2017 Prohibited List can be a bit of a challenge.
So UK Anti-Doping have put together a number of useful resources that can be found below: –

  • The UKAD website, which gives background information on the List and provides a summary of key modifications in the 2017 version
  • UKAD’s Clean Sport Blog, which breaks the List down further and provides guidance on two particular changes that have been made in the 2017 version
  • Specific fact sheets for athletes, support personnel and National Governing Bodies, which detail key changes in the List (See links below)

If you have any doubts about your supplements or medication, please contact admin@britishwrestling.org
