Bolton, Sharples and Heartlift agreed the constitution of the Bolton Development Group, the primary aims of which are to raise the profile of wrestling across the borough and secure opportunities to further embed wrestling from participation to performance and excellence. The meeting took place at the famous Reebok stadium outside Bolton.
The group consists of officers and members of the Clubs, National Governing Body, Bolton Schools Sport Partnership and Bolton Council Sport, Health & Inclusion Service.
One of the first practical outcomes from the group will be a three day Summer Academy for wrestlers from Primary through to Higher Education in their holidays, jointly supported by Bolton, Sharples and Heartlift. Sessions will be divided by age/experience with taster, development and performance sessions. Promotional literature for the Summer Academy will be produced by the Bolton Schools Sport Partnership.
“This is a great example of different wrestling organisations, schools and the local authority banding together successfully for the common good of wrestling and the young people of Bolton Borough,” said Colin Nicholson, British Wrestling Chief Executive
