British Wrestling is delighted to announce a partnership with Sports Structures to develop online coach education to streamline the coach education pathway.
Sport Structures are supporting British Wrestling in developing online content including a virtual classroom. This means that the theory parts of the coaching courses will now be delivered online separately to the practical sessions meaning learners are required to spend less time on face to face coaching courses.
With the new online virtual learning platform from Sport Structures, learners can book onto a course and complete the theory modules at their own pace. The online learning is a mixture of interactive questions, interactive video learning, multiple choice to standard question and answer formats.
There remains a practical element to the coaching courses however by using this blended learning approach British Wrestling has been able to reduce the time spent on a face to face course. After completing the online theory modules the Level 1 Coaching Course requires just 1 day practical including assessment and the Level 2 to two days.
The online learning must be completed prior to booking onto the practical elements of the course.
Andreas Michaelas, BWA Development Manager said ’with the support of Sports Structures new platform, we are now able to make the BWA coach education pathway much simpler and easier to traverse for our volunteers, with the hopes of recruiting more wrestling coaches to support the sports growth and popularity’.
Craig Anthony, CEO said “With Covid-19 continuing to impact daily life, it is important that we are able to continue to offer opportunities for our sport to grow. I’m pleased to see this project come to fruition which will reduce the time burden on our aspiring coaches without compromising the quality of delivery”
