British Wrestling are recruiting volunteers for the upcoming GB Grand Prix

British Wrestling are excited to announce that we are now recruiting volunteers for our GB Grand Prix in December. Due to this being the only UWW event run by British Wrestling, we are looking for a number of different volunteers for multiple roles to help this competition run smoothly.

Volunteer roles and responsibilities

Accreditation Team– 2 vacancies

The Accreditation Team holds the responsibility of warmly welcoming and efficiently registering athletes and officials upon their arrival. Their primary objective is to ensure that all participating teams have completed the registration process accurately, minimizing the risk of any errors or discrepancies in the entry information. In addition to the registration process, the team will also serve as an invaluable information resource, providing teams with essential schedules and an informative city pack that acquaints them with the competition’s itinerary and highlights key features and amenities in the surrounding area. 

The Accreditation Team’s commitment to accuracy, efficiency, and thoroughness will ensure that teams receive a seamless and informative experience upon their arrival. Their efforts contribute to the overall success of the competition by facilitating a smooth and organized process, enabling teams to focus on their performance while feeling supported and well-informed throughout their stay. 

 

Accommodation and Transport Assistants – 4 vacancies

These dedicated assistants will act as a reliable point of contact for guests, promptly addressing any questions or concerns they may have related to their accommodation. They strive to ensure that guests receive the necessary support and assistance in obtaining their desired amenities and services at the host accommodation. Additionally, the assistants are responsible for coordinating and monitoring transportation schedules, ensuring punctuality and assisting guests in reaching their destinations smoothly. 

Their comprehensive knowledge of the accommodation facilities and transportation logistics allows them to offer valuable guidance and direction to guests. They are adept at providing accurate and up-to-date information regarding check-in processes, room assignments, amenities, and local attractions. Moreover, in any transport scenario, they play a vital role in ensuring that guests are directed to the appropriate locations at the right times, minimizing any confusion or delays. 

 

Competition Area Stewards – 4 vacancies

The Competition Area Stewards’ primary responsibility is to enforce strict accreditation protocols, ensuring that only individuals with valid accreditation are granted access to the competition area. This meticulous process ensures a secure and controlled environment for participants and staff. Additionally, the stewards will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth and seamless running of the competition area. They will oversee various aspects, including the arrangement of equipment, the adherence to competition rules and regulations, and the timely execution of scheduled events. With their keen eye for detail and strong organizational skills, they ensure that all activities within the competition area align with the predetermined plans and meet the highest standards of quality. 

Furthermore, the stewards will serve as a valuable resource for participants, staff, and spectators, providing assistance and addressing inquiries to the best of their ability. They should possess a comprehensive understanding of the competition and its various components, enabling them to provide accurate information and guidance. If faced with complex queries or issues beyond their scope, the stewards should diligently escalate the matter to the respective individual or department responsible for handling such matters, ensuring that concerns are appropriately addressed.

 

Competition Runners – 4 vacancies

The Competition Runners are responsible for facilitating the seamless transition of wrestlers from the warm-up area to the competition area. Their primary responsibility is to ensure that the wrestlers scheduled to compete are efficiently guided and accompanied, guaranteeing their timely arrival at the competition area. 

With careful coordination and attention to detail, the Competition Runners will oversee the smooth flow of wrestlers, ensuring that they follow the designated route and arrive at the competition area in a timely manner. They’ll  work closely with the event organizers, officials, and coaching staff to ensure that the wrestlers are prepared and ready for their respective matches. 

 

Bump In and Bump Out Crew – 6 vacancies

The Bump-In and Bump-Out Crew will operate as a cohesive team with the responsibility of setting up and dismantling the competition infrastructure in accordance with the venue plan. They will meticulously follow the established blueprint to ensure that all elements of the competition are efficiently assembled and disassembled, ultimately ensuring a smooth and successful event.  

 

Mat Assistants – 4 vacancies

The Mat Assistants will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the competition by providing immediate assistance and support mat side. Their primary responsibility is to swiftly address any emergency cleaning requirements that may arise during the competition, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for the participants. In addition, the Mat Assistants should serve as a valuable resource for addressing technical issues and handling various queries that may arise. They should be readily available to offer guidance and support to participants, officials, or spectators, diligently taking note of any concerns or questions that require the attention of the relevant responsible parties. 

 

Pairers – 2 vacancies

The pairers are responsible for managing the event management system and overseeing the seamless pairing of competitors. With careful attention to detail and constant vigilance, they’ll closely monitor the pairing process throughout the event, ensuring that no mistakes occur and the competition operates smoothly. The Pairers will be inputting and managing crucial data related to competitors, weight classes, and scheduling. They should possess a deep understanding of the competition rules and regulations, employing their expertise to create fair and balanced matchups. 

 

Sports Presentation Announcer – 1 vacancy

The Sports Presentation Announcers is responsible for curating an exceptional event experience while effectively communicating the ongoing action on the mat to the spectators and participants alike. Their primary responsibility is to engage and captivate the audience, contributing to the creation of a vibrant and electrifying atmosphere befitting a grand-scale event. 

The Announcer should excel in their ability to provide insightful and compelling commentary, offering a dynamic narrative that enhances the understanding and enjoyment of the competition. With a deep knowledge of the sport and its intricacies, they will deliver accurate and informative descriptions of the unfolding matches, ensuring that spectators can follow the action with clarity and enthusiasm. 

Beyond their on-mic duties, the Sports Presentation Announcer will actively engage with the audience, providing essential information, updates, and relevant insights. They serve as a conduit between the competition and its participants, helping wrestlers stay informed about match schedules, results, and other pertinent details. This proactive communication further enhances the overall event experience and ensures a cohesive connection between all stakeholders.
