British Wrestling are delighted to announce the second of our line up of speakers for the upcoming Wrestling Conference. We’re excited to have Jonathan Bell from the Leeds Beckett University to host a talk on Injuries in Wrestling. Below is a short biography:
Jon Bell is a therapeutic and rehabilitation sciences lecturer at Leeds Beckett University’s School of Health. He will be speaking about injuries in Wrestling.
He is the clinical supervisor at Teesside University for the talent pathway academics. He has worked with UFC and Cage warrior champions, Olympic gold medal athletes and within in top-flight football in rugby in the UK and Europe.
Jon was previously in the Military, where he acted as a team medic in conflict zones such as Afghanistan. This has led to a decade of working with veteran amputees, mainly through the charity BLESMA.
The Conference will be on Saturday the 4th November 2023. This conference is open to all coaches, assistant coaches and volunteers such as technical officials.
Entry is free for all wrestling coaches and volunteers looking to support the coaches to the BWA conference. You must book through the BWA membership portal to confirm your place. BWA is unable to cover hotel or travel costs. Coaches need a valid BWA membership to book onto the conference. (Any BWA membership valid on the day however this does not include fan memberships).

10:30 – 12:00 – Common Injuries in Wrestling (TBC)
12:00 – 13:00 – Lunch. Network in specific subject areas with like minded people. Subject areas including (Subject to final sign off) Competitions, Leagues, Funding, Education, Volunteer recruitment etc
13:00 – 14:30 – Weight Management Seminar (TBC)
14:30 – 15:00 – Networking Break
15:00 – 16:00 – Sport England, Play Their Way Campaign (TBC)
16:00 – 16:15 – Break
16:15 – 17:00 – Competition Rules for Coaches
