British Wrestling is dedicated to continuously enhancing the standard of its coach education program. As part of this ongoing effort, an annual gathering of the entire UK Education Workforce of Tutors and Assessors was held on Saturday 31st August at the British Wrestling Academy.
Collaboration and Enhancement
Tutors from across the UK, including Scotland, Northern Ireland, and England, convened at the British Wrestling Offices in Salford for a day of insightful discussions and collaboration. The event was led by Pat Mee, British Wrestling External Quality Assurance Lead, and Andreas Michaelas, BWA Internal Quality Assurance Lead.
Refining the Level 1 Qualification
A core focus of the day was to review and refine the Level 1 coaching qualification. This included examining the specification, unit specification (the components of the qualification), and tutor notes and slides. The team worked diligently to ensure the qualification accurately reflects the skills and knowledge required of an assistant wrestling coach.
Collective Expertise
Andreas Michaelas, British Wrestling’s Development Manager (workforce), emphasized the value of bringing the entire workforce together.
“The level of knowledge and experience in the room was instrumental in shaping the qualification,” he stated.
This collective expertise is crucial for maintaining the high caliber of British Wrestling’s coach education program.
A Pathway to Success
This collaborative effort underscores British Wrestling’s commitment to providing coaches with the best possible training and support. By continually refining the coach education pathway, British Wrestling is fostering a strong foundation for the future success of wrestling in the UK.
