British Wrestling Has A New Lead Safeguarding Officer

14/04/2020

British Wrestling would like to announce that on 31 March 2020, Barry Pollin was appointed to the position of Lead Safeguarding Officer (LSO) for the British Wrestling Association Ltd.

Safeguarding remains central to the delivery of our sport and until recently Barry was acting as the Deputy LSO to Marc Scott. British Wrestling would like to thank Marc and wish him well with his work as Executive Manager for Ulster Hockey however we view the current appointment as a great opportunity to bring Operations, Equality and Safeguarding all under the one umbrella; further strengthening the safeguarding culture already woven into the fabric of the organisation.

Barry has previous legal experience with an extensive knowledge of the sport, he will be supported in his day to day tasks by Andreas Michaelas who is appointed as the Deputy LSO; Andreas will also be providing cover during periods of annual leave.

Barry said, “One of my top priorities is to work through the Safeguarding implementation Plan 2019/20 and ensure that we remain on track, I have already been in contact with the Child Protection in Sport Unit and found their advice extremely helpful”.

Barry can be contacted on safeguarding@britishwrestling.org or telephone number 07077201505
