British Wrestling is proud to announce its participation in a crucial research study focusing on concussion incidence, risk factors, and prevention strategies within the sport. Supported by Chief Medical Officer Dr Saam Falahati and led by Dr Husnain Ahmed, this initiative marks a significant step towards enhancing the safety and well-being of wrestlers across the UK.
The study aims to answer a vital question: What are the most common causes of concussions in adult British wrestling, and how can we minimise the risk through improved techniques, training methods, or protective measures?
To achieve this goal, we need your help! British Wrestling encourages all adult wrestlers – across all weight categories and disciplines (Freestyle, Greco-Roman, and Women’s Wrestling) – to participate in this important research by completing an anonymous online questionnaire.
The questionnaire, which takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete, will gather essential data on:
By sharing your experiences and insights, you’ll directly contribute to a safer and more sustainable future for British wrestling. The data collected will be instrumental in developing evidence-based recommendations for concussion prevention, including potential refinements to training protocols, techniques, and safety equipment.
British Wrestling understands the importance of privacy, no individual data will be accessible to British Wrestling. Rest assured that all responses will be kept strictly anonymous and data confidentiality is guaranteed throughout the study.
The questionnaire is available online here.
