British Wrestling is thrilled to announce the launch of our new public Coach Register! This exciting initiative is designed to connect individuals of all ages and abilities with qualified and licensed wrestling coaches across the UK. Whether you’re taking your first steps onto the mat or looking to hone your skills for competition, the Coach Register is your one-stop shop for finding the right coach for you.
The Coach Register is more than a simple directory; it is a tool to enhance the safety, professionalism, and overall experience for members across all levels of the sport.
Why a Coach Register?
We understand the importance of finding a coach you can trust. The British Wrestling Coach Register provides transparency and peace of mind by allowing you to easily verify a coach’s qualifications and licensing status. Only coaches with an active British Wrestling licence are featured on the register, ensuring they meet our stringent standards for coaching expertise, safeguarding, and ethical conduct. The register is expected to bolster trust in wrestling coaching by ensuring that only certified and qualified coaches are actively working in clubs or delivering wrestling in the community. By providing transparency about a coach’s qualifications and coaching status, the register ensures that everyone from parents to wrestlers can have confidence in the quality and safety of their instruction.
What Information Can You Find?
In its basic form, the Coach Register provides just the basic details of a coach including their name, coaching credentials and clubs they are a member. With this information, everyone can confirm a coach is licensed by British Wrestling and has therefore passed all the necessary checks to ensure they have:
- A British Wrestling recognised coaching qualification
- A valid British Wrestling membership
- An Enhanced DBS Certificate (or similar as applicable in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland), the contents of which are, in British Wrestling’s opinion, satisfactory OR have an agreed risk management plan approved by British Wrestling
- Completed a minimum 3 hours of learning on safeguarding in the past 3 years
- A first aid certification that consists of a minimum of 3 hours of learning
However, coaches can add a wealth of information to their profile to help you find an appropriate coach. For each registered coach, in addition to their name and coaching credentials, you may able to see:
- Their profile picture
- Their coaching credentials and qualifications
- The wrestling disciplines they specialise in
- Contact details (where the coach has chosen to share them)
- Information about their experience and coaching philosophy
- Whether they are interested in new coaching opportunities
How to Use the Register
Finding a coach is simple! The Coach Register is easily accessible on the British Wrestling website. You can search for coaches by location, discipline, or other criteria to find the perfect match for your needs.
Benefits for the Wrestling Community
