British Wrestling recently took part in the exciting Mosque Expo event at the Werneth Suite in Oldham. This annual event brings together leaders from mosques, madrassahs, and Islamic educational institutes across the UK and beyond. It’s a chance for these organisations to connect with suppliers and experts who can help them improve and grow.
We were there to show our support for inclusivity in sports and to highlight how wrestling can be enjoyed by people from all backgrounds, including those from Muslim communities. Wrestling has a long and fascinating history, and it was great to see how much it resonated with the people at the Expo.
“It was fantastic to see so much interest in wrestling at the Mosque Expo,” said British Wrestling Club and Community Officer Rashid Hussain. “We had some great conversations about how we can make wrestling more accessible to everyone, and we’re really excited to be working with Faith Associates to make this happen.”
The event was organised by Faith Associates, a fantastic organisation that helps faith groups strengthen their communities. We’re working closely with Faith Associates to build relationships with places of worship and explore ways to introduce wrestling.
