British Wrestling would like to welcome all our members and clubs to 2020! Below are a number of updates and items for you to make sure you kick off the New Year in the right way.
Clubs and Members
Club Re-affiliations 2020
Please make sure you re-affiliate your club through the membership portal as soon as possible. If you’re not affiliated to British Wrestling, you are not covered by British Wrestling insurance. If you need support with re-affiliating your club please get in touch with
amichaelas@britishwrestling.org or
membership@britishwrestling.org.
Membership Sign up
New members who join British Wrestling affiliated clubs are not covered by insurance until they join British Wrestling through a minimum of a
‘recreational’ membership. Please get in touch with the development team at
amichaelas@britishwrestling.org for support in signing your members up to individual British Wrestling memberships.
We are excited to announce discount codes for all our members through the British Wrestling Online Portal. We’ve arranged partnerships with brands that value wrestling and we feel offer value to our clubs and members. You can find out more about the member benefits in our news item
here. To access the codes, make sure you have a current membership and you will find a ‘
Membership Codes‘ tile with the available discounts.
We opened the
2020 survey at the start of the year and have had a fantastic response already so thank you to those who have completed it. If you haven’t make sure you have your say before the closing date on 8th February. Whether you are a wrestler, coach, referee, official, parent or simply a fan of the sport we want to hear from you. Please take 10 minutes to fill out the questionnaire
here.
There’s even a chance to get your hands on some GBR kit!
Courses and Competitions
2020 is an exciting year with a host of competitions already in the calendar and lots of interest in training courses. You can find all the details on the range of training courses including coaching awards, safeguarding training and more as well as all upcoming competitions and supporting educational courses on British Wrestling membership site
here (make sure you’ve signed in first). Make the most of your New Years resolution and sign up for that course now before it’s too late.
Your club needs to be affiliated to enter your wrestlers into any upcoming competitions. If not, they are deemed as unattached wrestlers.
Code of Conduct
A reminder to all members that as a member of British Wrestling you agree to comply with the British Wrestling Code of Conduct and Ethics, if you’ve not read it in a while you can find a copy here. As we enter the New Year please make it a point of practice to uphold these standards at all wrestling activities both yourself and challenge others to ensure they are doing the same. We all want everyone to have the best experience of wrestling and that starts with the wrestling family.
Coaches
Can all coaches check/update their Codes of Conduct is active on their online profile to allow for their clubs to re-affiliate. This can be found on your profile, under ‘credentials’, ‘add a new credential’ and tick the agreement box. If your Code of conduct is active you do not need to agree again, you can check this in the same place.
Safeguarding
Last but not least a reminder that British Wrestling takes the safeguarding of all people in wrestling very seriously. We work closely with the Child Protection in Sport Unit, a unit within the NSPCC, to ensure that everyone affiliated and associated with British Wrestling have a safe, enjoyable and positive experience. For more information, you can find our safeguarding policy here and if you have any concerns please speak to your Club Safeguarding Officer or contact safeguarding@britishwrestling.org.
Happy New Year!
