British Wrestling has run its first post-pandemic coaches CPD course in the Strength and Conditioning for Combat Sports. We had a great turnout of 10 learners from around the country, from Scotland, Blackburn, Bradford and Derby.
The course was led by British Wrestling S&C Tutor Andreas Michaelas. Andreas currently lectures for the University of Central Lancashire on their Masters Degree programme in S&C and delivers anti-doping as a UKAD National Trainer.
He covered the basics of Strength and Conditioning, such as how to adapt various exercises to improve on movements patters from within Wrestling. This was looking at compound movements such as overhead squats and using them to identifying issues with your athlete to help better understand where they are physically.
