With two years to go until Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, British Wrestling is today announcing the nomination process for wrestlers interested in being selected to represent Team England.
Team England will be led by GBR Performance Lead Eddy Kavanagh and will go through a 24-month preparation programme starting over the next few weeks.
Most English athletes are expected to come from the GBR Senior Squad that has been operating on a monthly basis over the past two years. However, we recognise that some wrestlers who have not been part of this system may wish to be considered. Any wrestler wishing to be part of the programme should complete the nomination form below showing how they meet a base level of criteria to make the long list.

The criteria have been developed to ensure British Wrestling can make the best use of funds awarded by Sport England for the Medal Preparation Programme.
The Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, which will be held from 28th July until 8th August 2022, will be only the third time England has hosted the Games. Wrestling at the Commonwealth Games features Freestyle and Women’s wrestling with six weight categories. In Freestyle that is 57kg, 65kg, 74kg, 86kg, 97kg and 125kg and for Women’s wrestling 50kg, 53kg, 57kg, 62kg, 68kg and 76kg.
Nominations will be open until 21st August and any wrestlers invited to join the long list will be expected to attend squad training on 19th and 20th September 2020 and commit to the full England training and competition programme for the next 2 yrs.
