Shinbudo Wrestling Club is a newly affiliated wrestling club based out of South Hampstead and St John’s wood area of London. The club teaches wrestlings but also is an affiliated club with British Judo, British Sombo Federation and UKBJJ. They are also very active in the club and community scene by attending many different competitions up and down the country but also helping develop and interact with their local community.
The origins of the club are through the local ‘Tenants and Residents Association of the Alexandra and Ainsworth Estate’ during the filming of the movie ‘Kingsmen’. Due to the funds given to the Association by the movie, this supported the set up of the club and allow them to support the local community.
They are affiliated to the British Judo Association, the British Sombo Federation/BCSA, UKBJJA, and the British Wrestling Association and the club is supported by the Tenants and Residents Association of the Alexandra and Ainsworth Estate.
Moving forward Shinbudo is looking to develop its links to local schools to bring more children to wrestling. One of the clubs further objectives is also to involve a growing number of female athletes and female coaches into our sport of wrestling.
Would you like to be featured on the Club of the Month? Minimum requirements are that your club is affiliated to BWA. If you’re interested please contact BWA at amichaelas@britishwrestling.org.
