Organising Competitions

British Wrestling is committed to supporting our clubs, regions and nations in hosting successful and safe wrestling competitions. This page provides essential information and resources to help you through the process. We encourage all competition organisers to familiarise themselves with the British Wrestling Competition Handbook, which contains comprehensive guidance on all aspects of running a competition.

Registering Your Competition:

To register a competition with British Wrestling, please complete the  Competition Request Form:

Competitions should be registered 3 months prior to the event for interclub or entry-level competitions or 9 months prior for any other competitions. Please note that all competitions, excluding interclubs, are subject to approval by the Sport Technical Committee.

Hosting Interclubs: Developing the Next Generation

Are you looking to host a fantastic entry-level event that introduces new wrestlers to the thrill of competition? Organising an interclub is a “light touch,” development-focused solution designed to provide a fun, engaging, and invaluable experience for beginners and novice wrestlers. The primary goal is to maximise mat time, allowing participants to gain essential experience and build confidence in a supportive environment.

Interclubs focus on participation and enjoyment rather than official results, allowing for a more flexible approach where coaches can arrange pairings based on their expertise. This aligns with our Unleashing Potential strategy to grow and diversify participation by delivering accessible, high-quality competition opportunities at the local level. Read the full guide here.
