U23 European Championships

George Ramm, in the 57K weight category, lost to Ivan Zamfirov of Moldova, who went on to win one of the Bronze medals, defeating Hungary.
After being 4-0 down at the end of the first round, George got right back into the action, pulling it back to 4-3. However, he eventually lost to a pin.
This was George’s first match at 57K and he acquitted himself well at the high level of the European U23 Championships. George was ranked 12/13. Zamfirov, his Moldovan opponent was also a Bronze medallist last year in this tournament.

George competes tomorrow – he has a bye in the qualification round and in the quarter-finals will meet either Ivan Zamfirov (MDA) or Valentin Seimetz (GER) George’s match is on matB – match 33
