With competitions coming thick and fast in 2024 we felt it important to clarify the requirements for coaches to corner for their athletes at British Wrestling registered competitions.
All coaches are required to hold a full British Wrestling coaching license to corner at competitions.
Coaches are required to register in advance for competitions to ensure that their licence is checked ahead of time to not delay the competition or disadvantage their wrestlers. Coach entry to competitions is free with a competing wrestler.
We recognise that Level 1 Assistant Coaches are invaluable at clubs and supporting their Level 2 Club Coaches.
With this in mind, British Wrestling has supported changes to allow Level 1 coaches to assist Level 2 Club Coaches at competitions.
If a Level 1 coach has a full license, which can be found here, they will be able to corner at competitions.
The most recent addition to the level 1 license is the addition of safeguarding training. For more details, the full story can be found here.
