British Wrestling is proud to announce that our Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP) has been officially updated for 2026. As the national governing body for wrestling in the United Kingdom, we are committed to ensuring that our sport is a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible environment for everyone.
The publication of this updated plan is a key part of our commitment to maintaining BWA compliance with the Code for Sports Governance. By rigorously monitoring our progress and publishing this plan annually, we ensure that our leadership and organisational structures meet the highest standards of accountability and transparency.
Our 2026 plan builds on foundations laid in 2018 and demonstrates progress from the 2025 plan, specifically addressing inequalities identified within the sports pathway and workforce. At British Wrestling, we believe our strength lies in our diversity, and we strive to “ignite potential” on and off the mat by building a unified wrestling family.
We are also delighted to announce a change in leadership within our Board. Judith Duffin will be taking over the role of Diversity Champion from Vasile Jornea. Judith will be responsible for providing regular engagement and challenge to ensure our inclusion goals are met, including a formal annual review of the DIAP.
One of Judith’s first priorities will be convening the British Wrestling Equality and Diversity Group. This steering group is essential for identifying, discussing, and championing EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion) topics across all levels of our sport—from grassroots clubs to the boardroom.
To truly “Unleash Potential” and create a sport where everyone feels a profound sense of belonging, we need the lived experiences and voices of our members. We are looking for passionate individuals from across the wrestling community to join the Equality and Diversity Group and help shape the future of our sport.
How you can help:
