England Training Commences

14/07/2016

Training got under way last weekend for potential England Squad members for the Gold Coast 2018 XXI Commonwealth Games.

21 athletes assembled for the Saturday session, kindly hosted by West London Wrestling Club and 11 athletes on the Sunday, kindly hosted by Sharples Wrestling Club.

With the start of training and the Academy being restored from flood damage, it made sense to bring the sessions to the Regions” said Eddy Kavanagh, England Team Leader, who introduced both sessions.

Jatinder Rakhra (in the South) and Jesse Bradbury (in the North) kindly stood in for Anatolii Kharytoniuk and delivered similar session plans which Anatolii had structured.

“It is a good start to get 32 athletes together over the weekend,” continued Eddy.  “Those who wish to be selected for the team should attend scheduled training sessions to enhance their chances of selection.”

The weekend was a culmination of much planning and communications activity by Eddy and Jatinder Rakhra (Assistant England Team Leader) and all the athletes thoroughly enjoyed and got a lot out of the sessions.

If you want to be part of the team England Squad 2018 Commonwealth Games, and are over the age of 16, please contact Eddy Kavanagh
