The English Juniors this year was hosted by Middleton & Wirksworth club, and was held at the Alfreton Leisure Centre, Derbyshire. It had an entry of 150 athletes with 20 clubs being represented.
The Bowls Hall at the leisure centre allowed for 3 mats with sufficient space left for seating.
Running 3 mats allowed the organisers to have a Saturday morning weigh-in. It is hoped that this helped to keep costs down for those clubs that were within travelling distance.
With 52 weight categories being contested the day seemed to run smoothly with every one heading home at a reasonable time.
The tournament was attended by members of the World Class Performance Programme(WCPP). Olga Butkevych presented the trophies, shaking the hands of trophy winners and giving words of encouragement.
Krasimir Krastanov and Myroslav Dykun mixed with attendees (below) giving inspiration and building bridges between the WCPP and junior grassroots wrestling, the future of wrestling in Great Britain.
Middleton & Wirksworth thanks all of those who travelled to help make the day such a success.
Well done all those who competed!
