We are thrilled to invite all our female members to a historic event – the first ever Female Freestyle Wrestling Competition in the UK!
This momentous event marks the culmination of our successful Legacy Project, where we have significantly increased female participation in the sport of wrestling and engaged with over 200 women & girls.
This competition is a fantastic opportunity for women & girls from all walks of life to showcase their skills, strength and dedication to the sport. Experience the thrill of wrestling and learn about the various steps involved in competing. Food and refreshments will be provided because, as we all know, conversations are best enjoyed with something to eat and drink. We will celebrate everyone’s victories with appropriate medals for the girls and create a decorative space where they can feel truly welcomed and included in the sport of wrestling.
Creating a dedicated space for women & girls encourages more females to participate in wrestling, breaking down traditional barriers and stereotypes. These events offer a safe and supportive environment where women can build their skills and confidence without the pressures of competing in a mixed-gender setting. It’s also a chance for girls to foster lifelong friendships and networks with like-minded females, who can often feel very isolated.
British Wrestling are here to inspire the next generation of girls to pursue their passions and dreams, knowing that they too can achieve greatness. The Equality Act 2010 permits single-sex sporting events to ensure fair competition and encourage participation among underrepresented groups. Our event complies with these guidelines, celebrating and empowering women & girls in the sport of wrestling.
