Introduction to Funding
The existence of British Wrestling and the ability of individual athletes to train and compete is, to a large degree, dependent on funding by various partners.
UK Sport funds World Class Performance with a focus on Olympic ambition, principally London 2012, but also (and very limited for a basic funded sport like Wrestling) with a view to talent development for Rio 2016.
Sport England is committed to the creation of a world-leading community sport environment. This means they focus their investment on organisations and projects that will grow and sustain participation in grassroots sport and create opportunities for people to excel at their chosen sport.
Other Home Country sporting associations aim to support and grow their talent pool with the aim of handing those gaining selection on to the World Class Programme.
