Club Affiliation

British Wrestling is keen to talk to anyone who is interested in setting up a new club.  

New Affiliated Club

The process for setting up an affiliated club:-

1. Fulfill these main criteria:-

  • Must hold a ‘1st4Sport UKCC Level 2 Coaching in Wrestling’
  • Club Welfare Officer (for the protection of children and vulnerable adults)

2. Please contact membership@britishwrestling.org or clubdevelopment@britishwrestling.org to register your new club through the BWA online membership portal. 

Club affiliation fees

  • These are set annually and rise in line with the average of the official Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Retail Price Index (RPI)

Returning Club

  • Ensure that your club documentation is up to date include:
  • 1st4Sport UKCC BWA Coaching Level 2 Qualification / Honorary Coaching Qualification
    • First Aid
    • Safeguarding Certification
    • Enhanced DBS (via British Wrestling)/PVG/Access NI
    • Coaches Code of Conduct
  • Primary Club Safeguarding Officer (Free BWA Membership – Contact: membership@britishwrestling.org)
    • Safeguarding Certification
    • Enhanced DBS (via British Wrestling)/PVG/Access NI  

Associate Club

Are you an established club who wishes to add wrestling to their club but does not have a 1st4Sport Level 2 Wrestling qualification but wishes to work towards an affiliated club status. Please contact membership@britishwrestling.org or clubdevelopment@britishwrestling.org to discuss your development.

Ensure that you have the following documentation in place:

  • Public Liability Insurance (equal to or greater than the BWA Club Insurance)
  • Primary Club Safeguarding Officer (Free BWA Membership – Contact: membership@britishwrestling.org)
    • Safeguarding Certification
    • Enhanced DBS (via British Wrestling)/PVG/Access NI  
  • Working towards the Martial Arts Code of Conduct
