We are thrilled to announce a revolutionary change in our membership structure, set to roll out on 1st April 2024. After careful consideration and feedback from our valued members, we’ve crafted a brand-new package to streamline and enhance your British Wrestling member experience.
Why the Change?
Following the in-depth member review conducted by Ragdoll Research, we have looked closely at how we can make the membership offer work better for you, our members. Key themes coming from the research included making it simple to understand, cost pressures on young people and communication. In addition, clubs highlighted challenges with recruitment and retention.
Recognising the need for simplicity and cohesion, we bid farewell to the old, fragmented age-specific memberships. Our new structure ensures clarity, ease of management, and a tailored approach to meet the diverse needs of our community.
Introducing New Memberships
To keep it simple we have reduced the membership offer to just 3 annual memberships:
- Supporter Membership: Ideal for fans who want to stay connected and support our thriving community.
- Standard Membership: For those ready to take their involvement to the next level.
- Full Membership: The ultimate package for dedicated wrestlers committed to the sport.
Invest in the Future: Youth and Student Discounts
One of the key areas of feedback from the survey was the costs for our young people members. We want to ensure that we are nurturing the next generation and supporting them to stay involved in our wrestling family. So we have implemented a generous 45% discount on all memberships for individuals under 18, and that same benefit is extended to all full-time students.
Communication
All new memberships will come with significantly increased email communications throughout the year. In addition to the Wrestling Takedown our monthly member newsletter, each membership will include an in-depth membership journey that welcomes members and shares important information about your membership. We will also be developing our member-only content continuing to evolve the value you get from your membership.
Recruitment
To support clubs with the recruitment of new members we have worked closely with our insurers to enable us to provide two new introductory memberships in addition to the annual memberships listed above.
Starter Membership as it will be known is perfect for newcomers eager to explore the world of British Wrestling. This will only be available to new members for a 35-day trial period to train at their primary club. Once signed up Starter members will receive regular communication to encourage them to engage with their local club and get involved in all aspects of wrestling.
One-Day Membership is intended to encourage people involved in other combat sports to try wrestling. This membership is specially designed to showcase the excitement and inclusivity of a British Wrestling registered competition without the annual commitment. Limited to only be available once in 18 months this will be followed with a series of communication designed to encourage more regular participation in wrestling.
