Safeguarding in sport is the process of protecting children and adults from harm by providing a safe space in which to play sport and be active. A key part of child safeguarding is spreading the message about keeping children safe and building a culture of always acting in the best interest of all children.
Bearing this in mind, British Wrestling has recruited three athletes from the GBR Senior Squad to advise on how best to strengthen interactions with young people and ensure that that plans, projects and materials produced by the organisation are appropriate and relevant to young people. The new Safeguarding Ambassadors are Georgina Nelthorpe, Charlie Bowling and Ben Pollin and their main tasks include:
British Wrestling respects the views of young people and a representative from the Safeguarding Ambassadors is present at full British Wrestling Board meetings to provide feedback, advise and raise their own issues.
