British Wrestling is pleased to announce the introduction of a new social media policy for club competitions, designed to support organisers in promoting their events professionally and consistently across all platforms. This policy sits alongside the existing resources available for competition organisers, ensuring that events are not only well-run but also well-publicised.
We know that social media is one of the most powerful tools for reaching wrestlers, fans, and the wider community. That’s why British Wrestling has created clear guidelines to help clubs showcase their events effectively, using positive, inclusive messaging while maintaining a strong and recognisable brand identity.
The new social media policy will make it easier for clubs to create and share promotional content that reflects the professionalism of British Wrestling. It ensures that whether someone sees an event poster on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter, they instantly know it’s a British Wrestling-supported competition.
This consistency helps raise the profile of wrestling across the country and gives athletes, parents, and supporters all the key information they need to get involved.
As part of the policy, all event artwork—whether images or videos—must:
Include your club logo.
Feature the “British Wrestling Supported Event” logo.
Use clear, high-resolution images or videos free from watermarks.
Stay clean and simple, focusing on one image and straightforward language.
In addition, all event posts must clearly state:
The event name
Date
Venue or location
Age divisions
For social media reels, the recommended size is 1080 x 1920 (portrait), while static artwork should be 1080 x 1350 (portrait). Every caption must also include a link to JustGo for easy access to event details and registration.
The policy encourages clubs to keep all messaging positive, inclusive, and welcoming. The focus should always be on the opportunities the event provides—whether that’s competition experience, community involvement, or celebrating the sport of wrestling.
To maintain quality and consistency, all artwork and captions must be submitted to British Wrestling at least two weeks before posting. Clubs should include their proposed captions when submitting materials.
If organisers have questions or need support, they can contact Libby at lgenge@britishwrestling.org or Rob at rob@pathsport.org.
This new social media policy builds on the existing competition organiser resources available on the British Wrestling website. These include guidance on planning, managing entries, arranging officials, and ensuring events meet all safety and safeguarding standards. Together, these tools give clubs everything they need to run successful, well-promoted competitions.
