Meanwhile, all three England Regions have Regional Development Coaches in place (with the Midlands already having an Assistant Regional Coach). Regional Development Squads have been meeting, athletes developing and the England Development Squad / National Talent Squad (NTS) have held training weekends.
The latest NTS was on Saturday/Sunday 9/10th August at the British Wrestling Academy in Salford, attended by around 20 athletes.
Training sessions were led by England Development Coach Anatolii Kharytoniuk with coaches from Scotland, Northern Ireland and the 3x England Regional Development coaches (including Jesse Bradbury, right) assisting throughout.
Coaches agreed to pilot “Boxes,” a personalised access on-line secure system accessible by athletes and coaches which will contain personal development information, results, competition reviews etc. “Boxes” will provide evidence on which to base future selection for international competitions and continued membership of the NTS.
The end of the Saturday morning session became highly motivation as Craig Pilling (57 kg -Wales,) Michael Grundy (74 kg – England,) Chinu (125kg – England) and Louisa Porogovska (55 kg – England), all Commonwealth Bronze medallists from just 10 days previous, held a question & answer session which kept the athletes spell-bound.
