Say NO to doping!

17/01/2015

A revised World Anti-Doping Code came into effect for 2015 onwards.

UK Anti-Doping and all signatories (which includes British Wrestling,) to the UK National Anti-Doping Policy must comply with, and embrace their responsibilities under the new rules.

The important messages are:

  • Rules apply to all British Wrestling members
  • There are now 10 Anti-Doping Rule Violations (ADRVs,) up from 8
  • Deliberate cheating using doping substances will now be sanctioned with a 4-year ban for a first offence
  • Inadvertent doping will result, in many cases, in a 2 year ban

British Wrestling will be updating its education strategy and information programmes.

  • There will be a dedicated page on this website with the main elements of the code and links to further resources at UK Anti-Doping and elsewhere (link)
  • Regional and national squads will take part in anti-doping education events scheduled within their training days
  • Warnings about anti-doping will be added to the relevant Competition Regulations so that all competitors can be aware
  • UK Anti-Doping Agency personnel will continue to be invited to major competitions but in addition to UKAD’s regularly attending testing personnel, there will be an education team with stands, literature and the ability to answer members’ questions
  • UK Anti-Doping information packs and posters will be sent to all clubs

If any member has any questions with regards anti-doping, they should get in touch with British Wrestling’s Anti-Doping Officer, Malcolm Morley, via the administrator admin@britishwrestling.org
