26/07/2018

Planning for the 2nd Edition of the European Games is now in progress –
Minsk 2019.

Taking place every four years, the 1st Edition took place in June 2015 in Baku, Azerbaijan. For Minsk, the wrestling dates are 25-30 June 2019.

Athletes or Officials who wish to put themselves forward for selection should e-mail operations@britishwrestling.org immediately, as the BOA require a long-List by 1st August.

As well as selection for Minsk by the GBR Selection Panel, athletes intending to compete in Minsk would need to:-

-> be a British Citizen with a full British Passport and current members of the British Wrestling Association

–> Self-Fund participation in UWW events to the level necessary to meet the minimum BWA Selection Criteria (link)

—> be selected by the GBR Selection Panel for the 2019 Senior European Championships (April 2019, Bucharest, Romania)

—-> self-fund their participation at the 2019 Senior European Championships which would include a minimum of a week’s training camp prior to the competition (to be defined by the Selection Panel)

—–> Achieve a top 14/15 place at the 2019 Senior European Championships in order to meet the Minsk 2019 UWW Qualification Criteria (link)

The GBR Selection Panel has already put together a draft list of names of athletes and initial contact has been made with these athletes.

This website notice is to ensure that no athlete who wishes their name to be put forward is excluded as anyone wishing to be considered must be on the BOA Long List.
