Applications close Friday 9 October
England Wrestling is searching for experienced, motivated coaches to join Team England at the 2026 Commonwealth Wrestling Championships, taking place in Polokwane, South Africa, from 4 to 6 December.
Selected coaches will lead the England team on the mat and look after the squad from the moment they leave the UK to the moment they return. Several coaches will be appointed, with the final number depending on the size of the athlete squad.

Coaches will provide high-quality mat-side support to England athletes before and during competition, and help prepare them in the build-up, including weight management, warm-ups and competition planning. They will also share responsibility for the welfare, safety and conduct of athletes throughout the trip, in line with British Wrestling’s Safeguarding Policy.
Behind the scenes, coaches will work closely with the Team Manager and each other on travel, accommodation, weigh-ins, scheduling and wider team logistics. They will be expected to act as positive role models and ambassadors for England Wrestling, both on and off the mat, and to champion clean sport. That includes complying with the WADA Code and anti-doping procedures and supporting any athletes selected for testing.
Applicants should hold a UKCC Level 2 Wrestling Coach qualification or above, along with a current DBS check, safeguarding training and a valid first aid certificate. We are looking for experience c

oaching at international or UWW level, or competing at UWW level, together with a good knowledge of the wrestling landscape in the UK.
Experience of supervising and working within a team is important, ideally including previous team trips or overseas competitions. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to stay calm and solve problems under pressure, backed by good organisation and attention to detail.
Coaches must hold a full passport valid for at least six months beyond the date of travel, be able to travel for the full duration of the trip, and be committed to British Wrestling’s Safeguarding Policy and the prevention of doping.
Expenses will be paid in line with the British Wrestling Expenses Policy.
Send a CV outlining your coaching experience, including any international coaching, team trips and relevant qualifications, to msudron@britishwrestling.org by Friday 9 October 2026. Successful coaches will be selected by the England Wrestling Committee.
