Wrestle Clean – British Wrestling are working closely with UKAD to protect our sport through education
British Wrestling has been busy undertaking changes and improving what we do to educate our community with help from UKAD since 2018. Below is what we have done each year to support our community and protect #cleansport.
2018-2019
- All National Talent Squad members are taken through Clean Sport training regularly and will set regular dates along the planned squad dates
- All key support staff are taken through training on an annual basis
- Incorporated a dedicated UKAD area on the BWA website: https://britishwrestling.org/uk-anti-doping/
- Joined the Clean Sport App and promoted to all athletes and members. You can download on the IOS app store here and the Android store here
- All new members and newly affiliated clubs are asked to sign and agree to the BWA and UKAD anti-doping policies and codes of conduct
- BWA regularly promotes clean sport through their communication strategy
- As part of a safeguarding officers training, we encourage them to take the UKAD advisors education training.
2020 – 2021
- Update the Anti-Doping area of the BWA website.
- Three new BWA UKAD Educators have attended training
- Regional Structure – We will have one UKAD Educator per region.
- Home nations to have a UKAD Educator trained up and join the overall team
- Communication – Inclusion of UKAD Clean Sport material on social media once a month
- As part of the BWA Membership Journey Research, we have identified areas we could improve the message of Anti-Doping.
- All BWA members, staff etc agree to our Anti-Doping policy when they create an account with BWA.
- BWA Membership Portal: reviewing Credentials members can upload to their profile as evidence
We continue to work with UKAD to better ourselves and to keep the sport of wrestling at the highest standard that our participants have come to expect. If you have any questions please contact our Anti Doping Lead: Andreas Michaelas at clubdevelopment@britishwrestling.org
