Following a meeting with British Wrestling on 12th April 2011, the British Olympic Association (BOA) announced that Great Britain will have the opportunity to utilise the maximum three Host Nation Qualification Places available to compete in wrestling at the London 2012 Olympic Games (link to British Wrestling news item).
For the London 2012 Olympic Games, the BOA has stipulated that any sport seeking to utilise a Host Nation Qualification Place must first demonstrate the following:
The necessary criteria that define credible performance required by the BOA were also agreed at that meeting of the Olympic Qualifying Standards Panel of the BOA and British Wrestling.
These criteria have now been added into the initial Selection Policy for the British Wrestling Team at the London 2012 Olympic Games at para 6.2 (c). An updated version of this policy is available at (link)
