
It is exciting news for all within the British Wrestling Association that UWW has chosen to run its next Referee/Coach Educator Course in Manchester
This is their first such course for the 2017-2021 cycle.
3 levels of courses will be taking place:
- UWW Referee and Coach Educator Course for high level Referee and Coach Educators leading to qualifications to lead UWW training courses
- UWW Level 1 Coaching Qualification for UKCC Coaches
- UWW Introduction to Refereeing Course for Referees and potential Referees
From a GBR perspective, there are spaces on the courses for:
2x prospective Coach Educators
15x potential Referees
15x UKCC Coaches

link). UWW is kindly paying for course tuition, food and accommodation.
UK course members are sought for:
- UWW Coach Educator Course:
- Similar to the role currently performed by Trevor Hoskins and Eric Ciake, UWW is seeking to expand its pool of Coach Educators.
- Candidates must have the potential to run UWW Level 1 courses around the world. Coaches must be of a high level, attending UWW tournaments and prepared to run 1-2 courses per year. (Link to attributes of candidates)
- Candidates will be proposed to UWW by the BWA and will be nominated by the UWW Coaches Commission.
- 2x places available to BWA on this course, 5-11th November

- UWW Level 1 Coaching Qualification:
- UWW’s current international coaching qualification (link). At some point, coaches wishing to corner at international competitions will be required to hold this qualification)
- Candidates should already have the BWA’s UKCC qualification and priority will be given to those with UKCC Wrestling Level 2
- Candidates will be proposed to UWW by the BWA
- 15x places are available to the BWA for this course, 8-11th November

- UWW Introduction to Refereeing Course:
- An introductory course focusing on the basics of the refereeing system including practical sessions with simulated wrestling matches. The participants will be evaluated and will be given a participation certificate. Intended to act as a foundation to apply for a UWW referee in the future.
- Candidates will be proposed to UWW by the BWA
- 15x places available to BWA on this course, 8-11th November

Submissions to the BWA will be reviewed by a panels as below:
- Committee to id/select referees (Dave Sudron, Richard Phillips, Ian Wiggett), the referee experts
- Committee to id/select coaches (Trevor Hoskins, Eric Ciake, Jem Lawson), the coach experts
