British Wrestling is delighted to announce two key appointments to our staff team, strengthening our commitment to athlete development and operational excellence.
As of 9th March, we have officially welcomed Ross Connelly and Eirini Tsoutsa to the organisation. These appointments come at an exciting time as we drive forward our 2025-2030 Strategy: Unleashing Potential, focusing on professionalising our pathways and providing world-class support to our wrestling family.

We are also thrilled to introduce Ross Connelly in the newly created role of National Development Coach. This part-time position is a strategic investment in our “Excel” pillar, designed specifically to help our talented athletes transition from junior levels into senior international wrestling.
As a former elite athlete and a current coach within our programme, Ross is already a familiar face in the community. His deep understanding of the British Wrestling environment means he will integrate seamlessly, continuing to lead camps and provide vital mat-side support at international competitions.
On his appointment, Ross Connelly said:
“I’m honoured to take on this role and extremely excited to support athletes and coaches across the pathway as we look to build a strong future for wrestling in Britain.”

Eirini joins us as our new Sports Administrator, taking over the reins from Sophie Raine, who has moved on to a new role with UCLAN Sports. We would like to thank Sophie for her hard work and wish her the very best in her future endeavours.
Eirini arrives with a wealth of experience within National Governing Body (NGB) environments, having previously worked with Rugby Football League (RFL) and Swim England. Her expertise in operational coordination, athlete pathways, and competition structures will be invaluable.
In her new role, Eirini will provide administrative support across all areas of the sport, with a particular focus on enhancing our performance pathway activities. Her background ensures she is well-equipped to help streamline our processes and improve the experience for our members and athletes.
These appointments reflect our mission to ignite potential on and off the mat. By investing in experienced administrators and passionate coaching talent, we are ensuring that British Wrestling has the “Collaborative Strength” needed to become a world-leading wrestling nation.
Please join us in giving Ross and Eirini a warm welcome to the team!
