British Wrestling is committed to supporting the growth of our female community. Be it to get active or to coach wrestling. Through various programmes and projects, we have supported female wrestling to grow.

British Wrestling has been supporting female coaches since 2020 and continues to support our female workforce with one free spot on every level 2 and two free spots on every level 1 coaching course in the UK. This programme has trained 38 new level 1 coaches and 21 new level 2 coaches across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The Legacy Project stands as a transformative initiative dedicated to amplifying female participation in the sport of wrestling at the grassroots level.
Having successfully introduced over 200 women and girls to the sport, we have witnessed a remarkable surge in interest and enthusiasm. Committed to building a strong foundation, the project has not only provided opportunities for participants to try wrestling but has also taken a proactive approach in empowering women as leaders within the sport. By qualifying 12 dedicated female coaches, we’ve laid the groundwork for mentorship and guidance.

The initiative has further opened the doors of understanding through three well-received open mat events in the Midlands, Manchester and Windsor, providing valuable insights into exactly how empowering and uplifting female wrestling can be.
Providing female-only environments to train and develop wrestling skills for women and girls new to the sport as well as those with more experience. You can read more about the latest event ‘Get Competition Ready‘ in Windsor.
British Wrestling is excited to announce the upcoming first-ever female-only wrestling competition—a momentous occasion that symbolises the collective journey, determination, and growth of women in wrestling. This final event serves as a testament to the project’s success in fostering inclusivity, skill development, and a lasting legacy for female athletes in the realm of wrestling.
