Report A Concern
At British Wrestling, we believe that wrestling should be a safe, positive, and enjoyable experience for everyone. The welfare of our members is our top priority, and we are committed to creating an environment where everyone feels respected, supported, and protected. This commitment is at the heart of our WrestleSafe policy. We encourage all members of the British Wrestling community—from athletes and coaches to parents and volunteers—to help us maintain this standard.
If you have a concern about the welfare of a child or adult in wrestling, please don’t hesitate to report it. Your action could make a vital difference. It is everyone’s responsibility to act on concerns, no matter how small they may seem.
If Someone Is at Immediate Risk or in Danger
If you believe a child or adult at risk is in immediate danger or a crime has been committed, you must act now.
- Contact the Police immediately by calling 999.
- After contacting the Police, please inform the British Wrestling Lead Safeguarding Officer as soon as it is safe to do so.
For Non-Urgent Concerns
If your concern is not an immediate risk, please use one of the following options:
- Report Online: The quickest and most direct way to report a concern is by completing our confidential online WrestleSafe Concern Form. This form goes directly to our Lead Safeguarding Officer and ensures all the necessary information is collected efficiently.
- Report at a Competition: If the concern arises at a competition or event, please speak directly with the designated Event Safeguarding Officer. They are on-site and equipped to handle such matters promptly and discreetly. They will be clearly identifiable and will provide support and guidance.
- Contact a Club Welfare Officer: If the concern relates to an activity within a specific club, you can speak directly with the Club Welfare Officer. They are trained to handle such matters and can provide support and guidance.
- Contact Our Lead Safeguarding Officer: You can contact our dedicated Lead Safeguarding Officer for advice or to discuss a concern. They are available to help during normal working hours.
- Email: safeguarding@britishwrestling.org
- Phone: 07494 162414 (Please note this is not an emergency number).
What Happens After You Report a Concern?
When you report a concern, you can be confident it will be taken seriously. Our Lead Safeguarding Officer will review the information and, where appropriate, follow the British Wrestling procedures for investigation. We will keep you informed of the process, while respecting the confidentiality and privacy of everyone involved.
Information Sharing
All information received will be treated in confidence and only shared on a need to know basis with those individuals who will be able to manage the situation. On occasion it may be necessary to seek advice, or inform the statutory agencies e.g. the Police or Local Authority Services. When investigating safeguarding concerns it may also be necessary and appropriate to contact those responsible for safeguarding in other organisations, such as schools and clubs.
