A new initiative to build interest in wrestling and keep the young community enthused is taking place in Lancashire. With the enthusiastic support of the local police authority, wrestling has been successfully introduced into local schools where it has been an instant success.
The local newspaper, (Lancashire Evening Post, follow-link) visited the project recently to spread the word on the success.
Paul Wood is the motivator behind the project. Paul is supported by Level 2 coaches from Aspull, until he can gain his own qualification. Coaching courses are currently on hold as British Wrestling seeks UKCC (UK Coaching Certificate) certification, which requires the re-writing of courses to a UK-wide consistent approach. But a pilot of the new course is expected soon.
Says Paul, “Once appropriately qualified, I aim to start an affiliated club. The support I have had from family, friends and colleagues has been fantastic and the children just love wrestling”
