British Wrestling hosted the Sports Authority of Thailand on the 14th November 2022 at the British Wrestling Academy for an afternoon of discussion on sports administration.
The visit was organised through the World Academy of Sport and reignites a relationship that was in place before the coronavirus pandemic restricted international travel. The delegates from the Sports Authority of Thailand visit Manchester to learn about sports administration and governance from the variety of local, regional and national bodies based in the area. CEO, Craig Anthony, explained the process of developing the current BWA Strategy and the progress made over the past few years. Supported by a translator the officials engaged in detailed discussion about British Wrestling in order to support their roles in Thailand governing bodies and local and regional authorities.
Following feedback on the experience from 2019 British Wrestling also provided a taster session enabling the delegates to get on the mat with one of our qualified coaches to experience wrestling first-hand.
British Wrestling CEO, Craig Anthony said:
“It was great to host a delegation from the Sports Authority of Thailand yesterday. I thoroughly enjoyed sharing the British Wrestling journey and a big thank you to Eamonn O’Rourke and the World Academy of Sport for organising the visit. It was great to reflect on the progress over the past 3 years and share some of our successes and challenges to grow #wrestling across the UK.”
